What's included in our NRVIA Premier Inspection?

Our NRVIA Premier Inspection is a 500+ point evaluation built on the National RV Inspectors Association Standards of Practice. We inspect and test every readily accessible system to confirm it performs as intended, and the inspection typically takes four to eight hours depending on the size and type of RV.

Here's what we cover:

  • Exterior & body: Roof type, condition, seals, vents, A/C shrouds, skylights, ladder, antennas, and solar panels; all sidewalls and their construction and condition; entry doors, latches, locks, and screens; windows including emergency egress windows, seals, and screens; and storage compartments.

  • Awnings & slide-outs: Patio awnings, slide-toppers, and window awnings (fabric, operation, hardware); and each slide-out's drive type, mechanical operation, seals, tracking, and manual override.

  • Chassis, running gear & towing: Frame, axles, springs, shocks, and hangers; wheels, tires, and rims (including tire age); brakes; spare tire; leveling and stabilization systems; hitch or pin box; safety chains and breakaway switch; steps; and all exterior lights.

  • Electrical: 12V DC chassis and house systems (batteries, cables, disconnects, converter); 120V AC shore power including a power-cord check, hot-skin test, breaker panel, GFCI operation, and outlet polarity; inverter and generator operation under load; and interior and exterior lighting and fans.

  • Propane (LP) system: Tank or cylinder condition and date, high-pressure hoses and fittings, the regulator, and a documented timed leak test — a critical life-safety check.

  • Plumbing & water: Fresh-water hookup and check valve, water filter, fresh tank, water-pump pressure, all faucets and showers (including the exterior shower), and the black and gray waste systems (valves, seals, tank-flush, and toilet seal).

  • Appliances & climate control: Refrigerator, water heater, furnace, cooktop and oven, range hood, air conditioner(s) with a Delta-T test per unit, microwave, and washer/dryer.

  • Interior condition: Ceiling, walls, and floors (including soft spots and signs of water damage), cabinets and countertops, furniture, window coverings, and entertainment components.

  • Motorized RVs also include: Cockpit, dash controls and gauges, mileage and hours, engine-compartment fluids, hoses, belts, and radiator, the exhaust system, and the back-up camera.

You receive a detailed written report documenting every finding with photos, organized by life-safety, major, and minor issues, so you can prioritize repairs, negotiate with confidence, or walk away from a bad deal.

For motorized RVs, we also offer fluid analysis as an add-on.  We draw engine oil and coolant samples for lab testing to reveal internal engine and drivetrain condition that a visual inspection alone can't show.

The inspection is thorough but visual and non-invasive. We evaluate readily accessible systems, we don't move personal belongings or open up walls and floors, and the report reflects the RV's condition on inspection day rather than serving as a warranty or guarantee. To complete the operational tests, the RV needs to be connected to shore power and a water supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need an inspection before buying a used RV?

Yes, for the same reason you'd inspect a house before buying it. A certified RV inspection uncovers hidden problems like water damage, roof and seal failures, soft floors, and failing appliances that aren't visible on a walkthrough. The written report also gives you leverage to negotiate the price or require repairs before you close.

How long does an RV inspection take?

A full NRVIA Premier Inspection typically takes about four to eight hours, depending on the size and type of the RV, a small travel trailer is on the shorter end, while a large Class A motorhome takes longer. That's far more thorough than a dealer's pre-delivery checklist, which is usually a quick functional check.

Does the RV need power and water hookups for the inspection?

Yes. To fully test the RV's systems, the unit needs to be connected to shore power and a water supply on inspection day. Hookups let us verify the electrical system, air conditioning, water heater, plumbing, and appliances under real operating conditions. If hookups aren't available we can still inspect the RV, but any system we can't power or fill will be noted as untested in your report.

Are you an independent, certified inspector?

Yes. Rollin' N Strollin' RV is an NRVIA-certified RV inspector, and our pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections are independent. The report reflects only the RV's actual condition, with no stake in whether the sale goes through. To keep inspections impartial, we do not perform repairs within one year on a unit we have inspected for you.

Can you inspect an RV I'm buying from a private seller or a dealer?

Yes. Because we're fully mobile, we travel to wherever the RV is located within about 150 miles of Nashville a private seller's driveway, a dealer lot, or a campground. Reminder, we do need electrical and water hookups to fully test all the systems.
